Weird/Awesome Cover Art

Posted on February 4, 2008

Apparently, the American Library Association convention is a lot more fun than I have been led to believe. From the ALA’s Flickr page, detailing what appears to be a dance competition between different libraries, utilizing re-purposed book carts (the “Book Cart Drill World Championships”) and a healthy dose of Busby Berkeley style insanity. Ah, the library: home to the entire world’s collected knowledge, all available to anyone, anywhere, anytime, for free. Over the summer months, it’s fun to browse the shelves, looking for books to leaf through. I took a trip to the library recently, and while browsing, I came upon some weird cover art, most of which, perhaps understandably, was centered upon the science fiction section. Apologies for photo quality; my digital camera was purchased through eBay for five dollars (the rechargeable batteries I bought for it actually cost more), a price possible only because the viewfinder is dead, giving most of the photos ‘artistic’ additions of glaring flash and Third Man style framing.
